On a partly cloudy Sunday morning at 08:30 hours, at Pawling Fire Department, Station 1 on September 11th, 2011, Members of the Pawling Fire Department were joined by The Hasler-Kamp American Legion Post # 215, State and Local Politicians and several hundred members of the Community for the Dedication of the Pawling Fire Department’s 9-11 Memorial Garden and to remember the 10th Anniversary of the Attack on the World Trade Center.  The Dedication Ceremony was officiated by Dutchess County Sheriff Adrian “Butch” Anderson.  After an opening prayer by the Reverend Mark Alten, Pawling Fire Department Bugler Dan Burgard played Our National Anthem, followed by Ms. Mary Ann Phalen singing God Bless America.  Opening comments were then made by NYS Senator Greg Ball, Legislature John Thomas, Town Supervisor Dave Kelly, and Town Mayor Rob Liffland.  Dutchess County Sheriff “Butch” Anderson then read a poem called “I am The Flag”.  A moment of silence was then observed marking the time that the first plane struck.  Pawling Fire Department Chief Dave Denzel then spoke about his remembrance of that day and the days following.  Chief Denzel then Officially Dedicated the Pawling Fire Department’s  9-11 Memorial Garden.  Members of The Hasler-Kamp American Legion Post # 215 then fired a 12 gun salute.  “Taps” was then played by Pawling Fire Department’s Bugler Dan Burgard and “Amazing Grace” played on the bag pipes by High School Student Evan King, thus ending the dedication Ceremony.
